Membership Classifications and Requirements
Active members shall consist of Dentists, who reside or practice in the Seventh Judicial District, and are duly registered as legally qualified to practice dentistry in the State of New York. By their election and the payment of dues to the society, they automatically become members of The New York State Dental Association and the American Dental Association in accordance with the Bylaws of these organizations. Eligible persons may be admitted to membership in this society, other than those that practice or reside in the Seventh District only upon written permission of the component district society in which he resides or practices. An active member in good standing who has been a member of the society for thirty (30) consecutive, or for a total of forty (40) years, having attained the age of sixty-five (65) years, shall be classified as a Life Member upon written application to the Secretary and upon proof of qualification. A member in good standing who has been an active member for twenty-five (25) years or more and who is no longer earning income from the performance of services as a member of the faculty of a dental school, as a dental administrator, or consultant, or as a practitioner of any activity for which a license to practice dentistry or dental hygiene is required. To qualify for retired membership status the member shall submit an affidavit attesting to his retirement on or before April 1 to the Secretary of the Society with proof of his qualifications.
