Building Resilience: Addressing Stress and Burnout in the Dental Profession
Dental professionals face increasing challenges related to administrative demands, work-life integration, and limited social support, all of which can contribute to chronic stress and burnout. This interactive, evidence-based program explores the physical, emotional, and psychological effects of stress, including its impact on cardiovascular health, depression, and overall well-being.
Drawing on the Stanford Model of Occupational Well-Being, Dr. Goodman will examine three key domains that support professional fulfillment: culture of wellness, efficiency of practice, and personal resilience. Participants will complete a brief, validated well-being assessment to establish a personal baseline and engage in guided discussions and hands-on activities throughout the session.
Attendees will learn practical, evidence-based techniques that can be incorporated into both clinical practice and daily life, including:
• A brief mindfulness exercise
• A self-compassion technique
• A cognitive defusion strategy
The program concludes with SMART goal development, helping participants create a personalized action plan for implementing these tools, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session. Participants will leave with actionable strategies to reduce stress, strengthen resilience, and support long-term personal and professional well-being.

Inspired by the results, he changed his college major and redirected his career toward helping others achieve improved health and function through chiropractic care. Since then, he has been dedicated to educating and empowering patients to take an active role in their musculoskeletal health.
Resilience Against Repetitive Stress: Musculoskeletal Health for Dental Professionals
Dentistry places unique physical demands on clinicians, with repetitive movements, prolonged static postures, and sustained mechanical stresses contributing to musculoskeletal discomfort and injury over time. This presentation examines the biomechanical factors that place dental professionals at increased risk for musculoskeletal disorders and provides practical, evidence-based strategies to help reduce those risks.
Attendees will learn ergonomic principles, posture optimization techniques, mobility-focused interventions, and simple self-care strategies that can be incorporated into daily routines. The session is designed to help dental professionals improve comfort, enhance productivity, and promote career longevity while maintaining overall musculoskeletal health.
Participants will leave with practical tools they can immediately apply to support their physical well-being and build resilience against the repetitive stresses associated with clinical practice.
