“Integrating Medicine and Dentistry - the Oral Medicine Perspective”
The conference will be held in person on May 1, 2026, at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Rochester Medical Center. Venue details, including directions and a map, are available on the conference website.
Online registration is now open, with discounted early-registration rates available through February 25.
New this year is an optional hands-on workshop, “Biopsies for Common Oral Diseases – All You Need to Know!” Conference participants may earn up to 9 continuing education (CE) credits.
The scientific program is designed for general practitioners and will focus on contemporary topics in oral medicine, with particular emphasis on oral complications in cancer patients. Topics include laser applications in biopsies and extractions, mechanisms of laser-based pain modulation, dental clearance prior to cancer therapy, oral health impacts of head and neck radiotherapy and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, oral medicine practice in the U.S., management of emerging oral toxicities related to immunotherapy and targeted therapies, innovations in oral medicine, and transformative clinical cases. The optional hands-on workshop will offer practical instruction and experience in performing oral tissue biopsies.
The conference will also feature a poster exhibition highlighting current research and clinical topics in oral medicine and the dental management of medically complex patients.
Additionally, a dedicated session on the principles of safe laser use will be included, an increasingly important topic as laser technology continues to expand in modern dental practices.
