Do you ever wonder what we do every day here in the District Office?
The wonderful thing about working for the Seventh District Dental Society is that every day is a little different. This time of year can be pretty busy. We are gearing up for a number of continuing education programs and we are always happy to see those registration forms coming in. In the background, Nancy Buckley is entering data into the ADA meeting management system and processing your payments. Nancy Heise is expertly attending to all the last minute details to make sure your CE experience is all that you expect.
Every day, we receive a myriad of phone calls from the public, from our members and from outside companies and organizations. We have three phone lines and an 800 number and often, they are all busy. We are also at the tail end of ADA Tripartite Dues billing cycle and now is the time we reach out to those members who have not yet paid their 2012 dues. Many have expressed appreciation for our follow-up.
We would like to share a snapshot of just a few things we worked on yesterday.
Today could look entirely different. That is what makes it fun and challenging for us.
Lori Bowerman - Executive Director - I had a morning meeting with a representative from R-AHEC (Western NY Area Health Education Center) regarding an Oral Health Conference Project.
I familiarized myself with the ADA Connect Dashboard; an online platform designed to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing among team members. Your ADA Delegation uses this dashboard to share important documents and discussions. I am on the ADA TRIO Team of Executive Directors providing input as ADA transitions to a new and very improved data management system. More to come…
EDA –Every day we provide customer service for our Fortress policyholders and yesterday was no different.
Nancy Heise - CE & Events Coordinator - Nancy Heise worked on two Peer Review cases that involved multiple phone calls to and from the Peer Review Chairman, NYSDA, the patient and a group dental practice.
She also went shopping for healthy treats and other items for the “goodie bags” for Give Kids a Smile Day at MCC Dental Clinic this Saturday. While out she also restocked our kitchen with items used in the office and at various board/committee meetings. Nancy also packed over 40 “goodie bags” for GKAS including water bottles, apples, cheese crackers, valentine pencils and notes, and literature about apples as a healthy snack.
Yesterday, Nancy completed the proof-reading for the 2012 Member Directory. We are ready to go to print! She also finalized and distributed the agenda/report for a program committee meeting on Monday.
Nancy Buckley – Membership and Communications- In addition to being the first to answer incoming calls, sort mail, prepare and process deposits, Nancy’s day included some of the following:
Nancy finalized the CE report for the Rochester Dental Study Club Annual Session which is no easy job. She also processed registration forms for our upcoming CE Meetings. Those are coming in fast and furious. She also helped a member dentist who inadvertently paid one of those fraudulent ADA dues bills but luckily sent it to us, helped a member compile his personal history of continuing education, advised a member about the MCDS Scholarship Program and helped a new member through the ADA application process.
On a final note, rarely does a day go by without one of the officers, board members or committee members touching base with us. We appreciate working with such dedicated volunteers and look forward to new initiatives in 2012.
