For dentists who discharge their wastewater to Monroe County: "Dental offices required to install an amalgam separator who are connected to Monroe County's Sewer Collection System can send their NYSDEC Notice of Dental Amalgam Separator Installation Form to:

Monroe County Pure Waters
Industrial Waste Office
444 East Henrietta Road
Rochester, NY 14620

Please send the original signed copy to Monroe County Pure Waters and make a copy of the original for your records.

On the first page of the form, Name of applicable sewage treatment works/sewer authority = Monroe County Pure Waters.

If the dentist is outside Monroe County or with-in Monroe County and their wastewater is discharged to another municipality/sewer authority (ex.
Webster, both town and village) they must submit the form to that municipality/sewer authority."

Below is information received from Monroe County Department of Environmental Services. Per Stephen Peletz, this information and the links we have attached will best help inform you of the Code of Mangement Practices for Silver Dischargers.

Silver Council's website with CMP that has been adopted by Monroe County as
alternative for dentists instead of having to comply with The County's Sewer 
Use Law. A dentist must adopt one or the other, the CMP being the ideal choice 
since it is less stringent on the dentist and their practice.

Monroe County Dept. of Env. Services website related to small business waste. 
This website will give dentists information on how they can dispose of their 
waste material(spent fixer, contact & non-contact amalgam, lead foil, 
filters/traps, etc)through our Household Hazardous Waste Facility. 

FYI - There are no regulations on disposal of Lead Foil. We encourage dentists 
to RECYCLE lead foil since it has value, can be melted down and reused and it 
is a heavy metal so it is hazardous to the environment if not properly disposed of.
